A circular bronze shield boss, its surface given over to two birds whose wings and trailing feathers describe the whole face. It was found in the Thames.

The same geometric vocabulary appears on pottery three thousand kilometres apart, stamped into wet clay with a toothed tool before firing. It marks the route of a migration.
